Tivaouane-Peulh : hébergé par son patron, un apprenti menuisier lui vole trois téléphones avant de disparaître
Trust was betrayed in an aluminum joinery workshop in Tivaouane Peulh. A young apprentice, housed and trained by his own boss, was arrested for stealing three mobile phones belonging to his work colleagues.
The gendarmes of the local brigade of Tivaouane Peulh proceeded, on September 19, 2026, to notify a custody measure against the named D. DIENG, aged twenty-one (21) years, apprentice aluminium carpenter, residing in Tivaouane Peulh, Cité APIX.
A gesture of solidarity rewarded with a flight
Everything had started so well. Six months earlier, Mr. B. FALL, an aluminum joiner by trade, had agreed to take D. DIENG into his workshop and also into his own home, yielding to the insistent request of a mutual friend, Mr. I. DIEYE. The aim of this arrangement was simple: to teach the young man the basics of the trade. It was therefore the man who had fed, housed, and trained him whom D. DIENG ended up exploiting.
The disappearance that arouses suspicion
On September 16, 2026, around 7:00 a.m., the other apprentices in the workshop were rudely awakened: their cell phones, provided by their boss, had all disappeared. Even more troubling, D. Dieng himself was nowhere to be found, without the slightest explanation. Suspicion immediately fell on him. B. Fall, the complainant, had no doubt: he pointed the finger at his apprentice as the perpetrator of the theft.
After an intense search, the suspect made the mistake of spontaneously returning to his employer's home. Immediately notified of his presence, officers from the Tivaouane Peulh local police patrol went to the scene and arrested him before taking him to their unit's headquarters.
A frank confession, a plea for clemency
When questioned by investigators on September 19, 2026, D. Dieng did not attempt to deny the obvious. He readily admitted to the charges against him, while pleading for leniency from the justice system, according to Seneweb sources.
The facts being fully established, D. Dieng was taken into custody after being informed of all his rights. Brought before Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, the apprentice was remanded in custody by the same magistrate.
