The local police station in Tivaouane-Peulh was informed on September 22, 2026, around 8:00 PM, of a fatal traffic accident on the laterite track connecting Niague to Socabeg. The accident, involving a Tata bus on line 81 and a passenger, resulted in the passenger's death.
The Tata vehicle was travelling on the Niague-Socabeg road with its doors open. About 200 metres from the Salimata BA private school, D. NDIAYE, a 22-year-old metal welder, a passenger, tripped during the journey.
During the fall, the victim's head became trapped between the front and rear right wheels of the moving bus. The rear wheels passing over D. Ndiaye's head caused his death.
According to initial reports, the accident was caused by carelessness and failure to observe safety rules regarding the closing of vehicle doors.
Alerted, officers from the local Tivaouane-Peulh brigade immediately went to the scene after notifying the Keur Massar fire department. An investigation was conducted at the scene. The victim's body was then transported by ambulance to the morgue at Dalal Diam Hospital in Guédiawaye, in the presence of investigators.
The same night, on September 22, 2026, at 9 p.m., the local police brigade of Tivaouane-Peulh placed T. DIAGNE, a driver residing in Tivaouane-Peulh, in custody for endangering the lives of others and involuntary manslaughter, following this fatal traffic accident.
According to the information gathered, T. Diagne, 36 years old, the driver of bus line 81, was driving a Tata vehicle carrying passengers.
