Violences 2021-2024 : Les premières inculpations tombent
The first heads are starting to roll in the case of the violence that occurred between 2021 and 2024. The judges of the 1st and 2nd chambers of the Dakar court proceeded, on September 22, with the first charges against the four people arrested by the Colonabe research section as part of the investigation opened following the complaint of Pape Abdoulaye Touré, who denounced acts of torture.
According to Seneweb, these are Guindo Traoré and Djibril Diaw, presented as security guards employed at the time by the former Minister of Youth Pape Malick Ndour; the Coud security agents, Amadou Tidiane Cissé, known as "Kabakrou", and Djibril Guèye.
The case took on an exceptional dimension with the joint referral decided by the public prosecutor, who opened a judicial inquiry and assigned the judges of the 1st and 2nd chambers to the case. The senior judge, who had cut short his leave, thus began the initial hearings with his colleague from the 2nd chamber.
The accused are defended by lawyers Takha Cissé, Bachir Lo, Alioune Badara Fall, Alphonse Faye, El Hadj Badara Ndiaye, Mamadou Yaya Dia, Mamadou Ciss and Amadou Danfan.
It was Djibril Guèye, an agent of the Coud (University of Dakar's social services department), who appeared before the judges of the first chamber at 3:42 p.m. Following his interrogation, he was charged with criminal conspiracy, crimes against humanity committed between February 1, 2021, and February 25, 2024, and torture.
The magistrates then followed the prosecutor's recommendation, who had requested a warrant for his arrest. Djibril Guèye was thus placed in pretrial detention.
Guindo Traoré under judicial supervision
At 4:52 p.m., it was Guindo Traoré's turn. The security guard was charged with the same offenses as Djibril Guèye. But unlike the Coud employee, he was released under judicial supervision.
The other two defendants, Djibril Diaw and Amadou Tidiane Cissé, known as "Kabakrou," have not yet learned their fate. Their charges have been suspended until tomorrow. They are awaiting a court appearance.
But the case is far from closed. According to Seneweb sources, further arrests are expected in the investigation into the events of 2021-2024 that left more than 80 dead.
