Affrontements lors des Navétanes : Le Préfet de Rufisque suspend la compétition jusqu’à nouvel ordre
Faced with the resurgence of violence in and around stadiums, the administrative authorities have taken action. The Prefect of the Rufisque department, Magatte Diouf, announced the immediate suspension of all matches in the Navétanes popular football league within the municipality.
The tension had become too high to ignore. Following serious clashes between rival supporters, causing material damage and compromising the physical safety of local residents, the prefecture took drastic measures to stop the escalation.
In an official statement, the Prefect emphasizes the urgency of such an administrative measure to preserve social peace. "For reasons related to maintaining public order and the safety of people and property, Navétanes matches are suspended in the City of Rufisque. This decision follows incidents and acts of violence recorded during certain matches [...]," the statement reads.
The administrative authority deplores the fact that a movement intended to promote social cohesion, fraternity, and fair play has devolved into a scene of vandalism and physical violence. Magatte Diouf thus makes a solemn appeal to the responsibility of the ASC leaders, players, and youth of Rufisque, urging them to prioritize calm, dialogue, and respect for the rules to guarantee collective safety.
