"Ça devient gênant": la campagne de Mbappé pour le Ballon d'or va-t-elle trop loin?
Is Kylian Mbappé's media campaign for the Ballon d'Or turning ridiculous? For Daniel Riolo, after the French captain's interview with RFI, "it's becoming embarrassing," with the striker perhaps fixating too much on the award.
The race for the Ballon d'Or is on, and the contenders are making their case. Like Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé has been giving a series of media appearances, outlining his arguments for winning the coveted award on October 26th at a ceremony in London. Despite a trophyless season with Real Madrid and France's elimination in the World Cup semi-finals, the striker emphasized on Tuesday the individual nature of the trophy, which recognizes a player's ability to "dazzle the audience."
"They're not going to announce a team in the envelope. They're going to announce a player. (...) The ability to perform individually and dazzle the eye, that's what impresses people for a trophy like the Ballon d'Or," he stated in an interview with RFI. "I've been the top scorer in all the major competitions, and I think this can be a good year for me, and I feel good about it." Last season, Mbappé finished as top scorer in La Liga (25 goals), in the Champions League (15 goals), and this summer became the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup (22 goals in three editions). All this without winning a major trophy.
"It looks like a stolen car"
The timing of this interview, conducted 48 hours before the Madrid derby against Atlético, is striking, especially since the Merengues' number 10 had a difficult afternoon on the pitch at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, much like his team. "He played a cataclysmic match," Daniel Riolo emphasized on RMC's After Foot program this Tuesday. According to the commentator, Mbappé places too much importance on the Ballon d'Or. "It's his current obsession... What he says in this interview is pure demagoguery. He arrives with all the fanfare and confetti. You can spot him a mile away. He's like a stolen car."
With this proliferation of interviews, the situation is becoming "awkward," Riolo asserts. "There's a huge amount of exaggeration surrounding him, what he does or doesn't bring to the team. I don't understand this campaign at all. I understand the end goal, but I've never believed that the end justifies the means. It's like those who say that in football, only the result matters. I'm not going to say it's a cheap Ballon d'Or, but the way he's building this success, if there is one, leaves a bitter taste in my mouth."
In his numerous public statements, the former Paris Saint-Germain player considers himself a favorite to win the Ballon d'Or, even taking a swipe at Dembélé without naming him. "Some years, I considered myself the best player in the world. I didn't see anyone better than me. Then, when Messi arrived at the ceremony and won, I'd say the best player is on the podium. No problem. When Cristiano won, I said the same thing... For others, I'd watch, and even with a Ballon d'Or, I'd never trade places with him. Dembélé? He's always been seen as a talented player. I've always been seen as the chosen one. I was at the top right away, very early on. He had a different path, injuries, but he made up for it," he explained in the pages of France Football on September 11.

Comme l'a rappelé un commentateur plus haut ,les critères sont changeants d'année en année .Mbappé a donc bien raison de faire sa propre pub.;Les lobbies sont tapis partout et Il y a rarement consensus ou unanimité sur le vainqueur.
Quant à au rigolo Riolo ,ce n'est qu'un pauvre jaloux ,haineux et ses argument sont bidon.Même lui ,ses déclarations ne sont pas neutres:quand on rabaisse l'un ,c'est pour monter la côte de l'autre.
