Convoqué par le sélectionneur portugais: Ronaldo disponible, sans exiger le statut de titulaire
At 41, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to use his experience to benefit the Portuguese national team. Despite questions surrounding his international future after the 2026 World Cup, the striker is indeed part of Portugal's squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.
With 233 caps and 146 goals to his name, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner doesn't intend to impose his status. In a press conference this Wednesday, Ronaldo emphasized his availability to coach Jorge Jesus. He stated he is ready to accept all scenarios, whether he starts, is a substitute, or is brought on as a replacement during the match.
"I am at the disposal of the Mister (Jorge Jesus) to play, to come on, to be replaced, I am available for anything," he reassured.
The Portuguese player also acknowledged that he could no longer expect to play as many matches as before. "One thing is certain: I'm not going to play the full 90 minutes of all four matches," he explained.
"The day they think I'm no longer useful, I'll leave."
The Portuguese captain assures that he will accept without difficulty any decision by the Federation or the coach to no longer call upon him.
"If the Mister or the president no longer counted on me, I could leave today," he declared. He added, "The day they think I'm no longer useful, that I'm creating a bad atmosphere, I'll pack my bags and leave."
