The United States women's basketball team has been crowned world champion for the fourth consecutive time. In the final, played this Sunday in Berlin, the Americans defeated France (97-79).
However, it was the French women who started the match better. They won the first two quarters (20-17, then 46-43) and seemed to have taken control of the game.
But after returning from the locker room, the United States completely turned the game around. Led by an inspired Breanna Stewart, who scored 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Jackie Young, who added 18 points, the Americans delivered a high-level third quarter.
At the end of this period, the United States had built a 16-point lead (73-57). Controlling the end of the game perfectly, the Americans ultimately extended their advantage to win convincingly (97-79).
With this fourth consecutive World Cup title, the United States, also Olympic champions, once again confirm their supremacy over world basketball.
