Eliminatoires CAN 2027 : Le calendrier de la CAF fait grincer des dents, Dabo et Leroy regrettent
The scheduling of the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers has raised questions among several African national team coaches. On Afrik-foot, Claude Le Roy, Sébastien Migné, Hubert Velud, and Youssouph Dabo, in particular, expressed their regret over the CAF's decision to schedule the two matchdays between September 24th and 30th.
For Claude Le Roy, coach of Congo, the schedule lacks coherence. "I didn't quite understand the logic of the CAF," he declared.
According to the French coach, the two matches could have been scheduled later, between September 28 and October 6, to allow for better preparation and to facilitate travel.
Sébastien Migné shares this view. The Gabon coach believes that a friendly match would have been "more useful before the first matchday" rather than after two official games.
Hubert Velud, the Comoros coach, has nevertheless chosen to extend his training camp with a prestigious match against Senegal in Marseille. "It's difficult, after two AFCON qualifying matches, to motivate the players for a friendly," Migné also acknowledges.
For his part, Youssouph Dabo, coach of Libya, also felt that "CAF could have scheduled the two qualifying days a little later".
Libya will nevertheless take advantage of the first week of October to face Mauritania in a friendly match, with a different approach to managing its group.
