France team: Ibrahima Konaté injured, is replaced by Leny Yoro

France centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, who suffered a "slight sprain of his right knee" on Wednesday, has withdrawn from the squad and will be replaced by Manchester United player Leny Yoro for Friday's Nations League match against Turkey, the French coaching staff announced on Thursday.

"Ibrahima Konaté felt pain in his knee during training, he underwent a follow-up MRI yesterday (Wednesday). He is suffering from a slight sprain of his right knee. In agreement with the staff and after cordial discussions between the doctors of Les Bleus and Real Madrid, the player is available to his club from today (Thursday)," explained the French staff.

"Following tests carried out (Thursday) by the Real Madrid medical service on our player Ibrahima Konaté, a lesion of the collateral ligament of the right leg has been diagnosed," the Madrid club said in the afternoon.

Konaté's withdrawal is the third since the start of the international window on Monday, the first for Zinédine Zidane as coach, following those of goalkeeper Robin Risser and midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery.

To compensate for his absence, Zidane has called upon Yoro, who is at the Clairefontaine National Football Centre with the Espoirs (U21s), and who will make his first appearance with the A team, like five other of his new teammates.

The Under-21s were due to fly to Iceland on Wednesday to play a Euro 2027 qualifying match, but a technical problem with their plane forced them to postpone their flight until Thursday.

Besides Turkey on Friday in Kocaeli, Zidane has a two-week international window during which France will play three other Nations League matches in Belgium (September 28), then at the Stade de France against Italy (October 2) before another match against the Red Devils (October 5).
