Équipe nationale du Sénégal : Qui sont Mikael Marsiglia et Issa Aidara, les deux adjoints de Patrick Vieira ?
Patrick Vieira has appointed his assistants to support him at the helm of the Lions. To take on his new challenge with Senegal, the 1998 World Cup winner has chosen two profiles with different but complementary backgrounds: Mikael Marsiglia, his loyal companion, and Issa Aidara, one of the rising stars of Senegalese coaching.
Newly appointed manager of the Senegalese national team, Patrick Vieira has chosen to surround himself with two coaches with complementary profiles. To assist him in his new role, the former Arsenal captain has called upon Mikael Marsiglia, a familiar face, and Issa Aidara, a Senegalese coach well-established in local football.
This choice is based on a mix of international experience and knowledge of the Senegalese football environment.
Mikael Marsiglia, an old acquaintance of Vieira
Mikael Marsiglia has known Patrick Vieira for many years. The two men played together at AS Cannes in the youth ranks, at the beginning of their respective football careers. Their professional relationship continued over the years, with Marsiglia joining several coaching staffs managed by Vieira in Europe.
Coming from a family of footballers, he is notably the nephew of René Marsiglia. During his playing career, Mikael Marsiglia played as an attacking midfielder, notably for AS Cannes, Strasbourg and Olympique de Marseille.
After hanging up his boots, he turned to coaching. While he has not yet managed a major team or national team as head coach, Marsiglia possesses significant experience at the highest level and a good understanding of Vieira's working methods.
Issa Aidara, local expertise
To complete his staff, Patrick Vieira also opted for local expertise with the appointment of Issa Aidara. A former Senegalese international, Aidara has an excellent understanding of the national football environment.
During his playing career, Aidara notably wore the jerseys of Sonacos of Diourbel, Ndiambour of Louga and Jaraaf of Dakar. This experience allowed him to become very familiar with the Senegalese league and its realities.
After his football career, he quickly moved into technical coaching. In particular, he spent several years at the Diambars Academy, where he continued his training and developed his experience working with young people.
Holder of the CAF A Licence, Issa Aidara also graduated top of his class. He recently won the U17 Africa Cup of Nations with the Senegalese national team, as part of Lamine Sané's coaching staff.
With Mikael Marsiglia (50 years old) and Issa Aidara (52 years old), Patrick Vieira (50 years old) is therefore relying on two different but complementary profiles: a technician with whom he shares a long professional experience and a Senegalese coach who understands the realities of local football and training.
