Gardiens de but des Lions : Patrick Vieira aurait fait un choix fort
According to information provided by Dsports and Match360, the new coach of the Lions is planning a shake-up in the Senegalese goal.
According to Dsports, Patrick Vieira is expected to call up Ngagne Demba Thiam. The 28-year-old Monza (Italian Serie A) goalkeeper will make his international debut. He will be included in the squad to replace Édouard Mendy, who has retired from international football.
Match360 reports that the new Franco-Senegalese coach will also call up Mamour Ndiaye, the AS Saint-Étienne goalkeeper. At 20 years old, he too is expected to join the national team.
These two goalkeepers are expected to be joined by OGC Nice's Yehvann Diouf. This suggests that Mory Diaw, second-choice goalkeeper under Pape Thiaw and starter in the Round of 32 defeat to Belgium (2-3) at the 2026 World Cup, is unlikely to be included in the squad. The former Le Havre AC goalkeeper could be left out following his transfer to Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia.
