Liga espagnole : Le Real perd le derby madrilène et compte désormais six points de retard sur le Barça
After Barcelona's 3-1 victory over Sevilla FC, Real Madrid were under pressure when they visited their city rivals, Atlético. The Madrid derby ultimately went in favor of the Colchoneros, who emerged victorious 2-1.
After a balanced first half with few chances, the match came alive at the start of the second half. Atlético were awarded a penalty after Dean Huijsen fouled Giuliano Simeone. Following a VAR review, the Real Madrid defender was sent off.
Grimaldo converted the penalty in the 52nd minute. Trailing and down to ten men, Real Madrid tried to respond. Mourinho made two changes, bringing on Diomandé and Rüdiger for Vinicius and Güler.
But it was Atlético who broke the deadlock in the 59th minute thanks to Jonathan David, assisted by Giuliano Simeone. Despite Rüdiger pulling one back in the 89th minute, Diego Simeone's men managed to hold onto their lead and secure a 2-1 victory.
Perfectly organized and highly combative, Atlético Madrid won the Madrid derby and climbed to second place with 16 points. Meanwhile, Real Madrid suffered their second league defeat of the season and now trail Barcelona by six points.
