Le Mans FC continues its international expansion. The Sarthe-based club is preparing to welcome new investors from the world of sport, including Senegalese international Idrissa Gana Gueye.

According to L'Équipe, the 36-year-old midfielder, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain and currently playing for Al-Diriyah in Saudi Arabia, will soon join the ownership group of Le Mans FC. He will be joined by former Brazilian international Lucas Leiva, ex-Liverpool player, who has 23 caps for the Seleção.

With the arrival of Gana Gueye, Le Mans FC intends to strengthen its ties with African football, and more specifically with Senegal. The Senegalese international is already involved in youth development through the ForHope Campus, where he has directed the training center since 2025. This program aims to provide young footballers with both athletic and academic support.

The arrival of the Senegalese player could also facilitate connections between Le Mans and Senegalese football. Two Senegalese players currently play for Le Mans: forwards Dame Gueye and Habib Diallo, the latter having joined the club during the last summer transfer window.

For his part, Lucas Leiva is expected to help further develop Le Mans FC's presence in the Brazilian market. Retired from playing since 2023, the former Liverpool midfielder has extensive experience in both European and Brazilian football.

His close relationship with Pedro Oliveira, president of Le Mans FC, is also an asset for the club. His experience and network could be particularly useful in the areas of recruitment and talent scouting.

This connection with Brazil has already materialized this summer with the arrival of two young players from Coritiba. Striker Enzo Vagner, 20, and left wing-back Joao Almeida, 20, joined Le Mans on loan.

The two Brazilians have yet to make their Ligue 1 debut for Patrick Videira's side. After the opening rounds of the season, Le Mans FC currently sits in ninth place in the standings.

With these new capital injections, the Sarthe club is therefore continuing its strategy of opening up to new markets, relying in particular on recognized personalities from international football.

On ne dicte a personne ce qu'il doit faire avec l'argent gagné à la sueur de son front. Au pays il y a trois régions où les gens sont plus solidement rattachés à leurs sources: Sénégal oriental, Casamance, Fleuve

Nous on s'en fout. Nous on dit bravo Sadio dont le projet va contribuer fortement au développement du pays (emplois, autosuffisance alimentaire, PIB, exportation et balance commercial).
