Ligue des nations : Cody Gakpo gâche la première de Jürgen Klopp avec l’Allemagne
Appointed as Germany's coach after the Mannschaft's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Jürgen Klopp began his tenure with a draw against Xavi's Netherlands, who was also playing his first match on the Dutch bench.
In a hard-fought match, the Germans opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Félix Nmecha. In the second half, both teams created several scoring opportunities, but neither managed to convert them.
It took until stoppage time for the Netherlands to equalize. Cody Gakpo converted a perfect cross from Robin van Bommel in the 92nd minute to level the score. The Liverpool player spoiled his former coach's first match in charge of the German national team.
Jürgen Klopp and Xavi thus begin their new adventures at the helm of Germany and the Netherlands with a draw.
