Ligue des Nations : un attaquant israelien célèbre son but en mimant un tir de fusil !
The Nations League match between Israel and Austria was marred by an unusual scene. Israeli striker Sayed Abu Farchi found himself at the center of a controversy after celebrating his goal by mimicking firing a rifle.
Trailing in the score, the Israeli team equalized in the 55th minute thanks to Abu Farchi, who headed home the equalizer. But just seconds after finding the back of the net, the player walked towards the corner flag and made a gesture mimicking the use of a firearm.
A celebration that proved costly. Already booked a few minutes earlier, the striker received a second yellow card for his gesture and was therefore sent off. This decision provoked frustration from the Israeli camp, but Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov deemed the celebration provocative and contrary to the rules governing celebrations after a goal.
Playing with a man down, Israel couldn't hold on until the end. Austria took advantage of the situation to regain the lead and ultimately win 3-1.
Beyond the result, it was above all Abu Farchi's celebration and his expulsion that marked this first day of the Nations League.
