Match amical U23 : Le Sénégal domine encore la Gambie au terme d’un match de haute facture
After their 3-1 victory on Saturday, Senegal's U23 team repeated the feat against Gambia. The Lions and their Gambian counterparts met again on Monday for a second friendly match, which Senegal won once more (2-1) in a high-quality encounter.
Senegal quickly took control of the match. On an attack initiated by Ousseynou Fall Seck, Sidy Ndiaye crossed for Aliou Diémé, who opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
Taking advantage of their momentum, Senegal extended their lead thanks to Sidy Ndiaye. The Teungueth FC striker pounced on a free kick poorly cleared by the Gambian goalkeeper to score the Lions' second goal (32nd minute).
In the final ten minutes of the first half, the Gambians were much more enterprising. This dominance allowed them to reduce the deficit before the break. Francis Gomez capitalized on a lapse in concentration from the Senegalese goalkeeper, lobbing him to bring Gambia back to 2-1 in the 44th minute.
In the second half, despite several substitutions made by both sides, the score remained unchanged. Senegal thus secured their second victory against Gambia.
These two matches allowed both U23 teams to regain their rhythm and prepare as best as possible for their upcoming challenges.
