Patrick Vieira lâche une grosse révélation : « Je savais que je serais le sélectionneur du Sénégal »
When asked about the arrival of eight new players in his first squad, Patrick Vieira revealed that he had been preparing for his appointment for several months, well before it was officially announced.
The new coach explains that everything accelerated after his meeting with the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, around the time of the World Cup.
“From the moment I met the president, I knew it was only a matter of time. It was around the time of the World Cup. We were approaching the final, a little bit of the World Cup. And from then on, I knew I would be the coach of the Senegalese national team,” he revealed.
Since then, the French coach claims to have carefully studied the Senegalese national team. "I've been working on the team for quite some time now. I watched the last World Cup matches, I studied the Africa Cup of Nations matches," he explained.
Vieira also asserts that he knows the players well, their individual qualities, and their team dynamics. This preparation should allow him to approach his first match with the Lions against Mozambique.
“I know this national team very well, I know the players very well in terms of their individual qualities, in terms of their collective qualities. And that’s why we will be ready for this first match against Mozambique,” the new coach assured.
