Portugal: The detail that shows Cristiano Ronaldo is isolated within the national team

A rather surprising situation is causing a stir within the Portuguese national team. While Lionel Messi was the center of attention on Tuesday night during his last match with Argentina, Cristiano Ronaldo found himself at the heart of a controversy in his own country.

The Portuguese star recently issued a statement to address the numerous criticisms he has faced. In his message, Ronaldo specifically mentioned Jorge Jesus and expressed his wish that the Portuguese national team coach would speak publicly about him. This statement has not been well received in Portugal and has sparked considerable media reaction.

But another detail particularly caught the eye. Several Portuguese media outlets pointed out that none of the national team players had "liked" Cristiano Ronaldo's social media post.

A seemingly insignificant detail, but one that inevitably fuels questions about the atmosphere in the locker room. Some see it as a sign of unease between the Portuguese captain and his teammates, following an international break that was nonetheless very successful on the pitch.

Portugal has indeed won all four of its recent matches and qualified for the Nations League quarterfinals. On the pitch, everything seems to be going perfectly. Off the pitch, however, Ronaldo's public statements continue to spark controversy.

It remains to be seen whether this lack of public support from his teammates actually reflects tensions within the group or whether it is just a simple coincidence.
