Saly Sarr, nouvelle reine du triple saut : La Sénégalaise s’impose au sommet mondial
Saly Sarr continues to push the boundaries of Senegalese athletics. The triple jumper won the women's competition at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest on Sunday, September 13, 2026, thanks to a jump of 15.06 meters achieved on her first attempt.
Just a few days after her historic victory in the Diamond League final in Brussels, the Senegalese athlete confirms her exceptional end to the season and her establishment among the world's best triple jump specialists.
In Budapest, Saly Sarr made a strong start. On her first attempt, she achieved a jump of 15.06m, enough to secure victory in a particularly competitive event.
The Senegalese athlete finished ahead of Cubans Davisleydi Velazco, who jumped 15.04m, and Leyanis Pérez Hernández, who leaped 14.90m. The competition featured four athletes who had cleared the symbolic 15-meter mark this season, demonstrating the exceptional level of competition.
After Brussels, Budapest confirms that Saly Sarr has changed dimension and that she is now among the international references in her discipline.
A few days earlier, at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Saly Sarr had already written a major page in the history of Senegalese sport.
With a jump measured at 14.96 meters, she won the 2026 Diamond League final, beating several of the best triple jumpers on the planet.
A historic victory as she became the first Senegalese athlete to win the Diamond League, across all disciplines.
The Brussels victory was much more than an individual achievement. It symbolized Senegal's emergence at the highest level of world athletics.
With her historic double victory in Brussels and Budapest, the Senegalese athlete has established herself as one of the leading figures in African athletics. Her journey also illustrates the ambitions of a new generation of Senegalese athletes determined to firmly establish their country among the major nations on the world stage.
