Sécurité routière : Dakar Dem Dikk et NSIA Assurances s'allient pour la santé visuelle des conducteurs
As part of their strategic partnership, NSIA Assurances and the public transport company Dakar Dem Dikk (DDD) have launched a major campaign of free eye exams exclusively for drivers on the national transport network. Organized in collaboration with Seine Lunettes, these prevention and screening days will take place over a ten-day period. The stated objective of both entities is to significantly improve road safety on the country's roads while tangibly enhancing the working conditions and well-being of drivers.
Speaking on behalf of the CEO of Dakar Dem Dikk, the company's Human Resources Director, Ibrahima Guèye, praised the initiative, describing it as "innovative" and "highly commendable." "This is an unprecedented step by our insurance partner, demonstrating a genuine commitment to supporting our employees beyond traditional insurance services," he stated. He noted that between December 2025 and February 2026, Dakar Dem Dikk had already conducted the mandatory annual medical examination for its staff, including a battery of clinical, biological, and radiological tests. This new ophthalmological campaign further enhances and complements the comprehensive medical monitoring system for drivers. Of a total workforce of 917 drivers, spread across urban, intercity, international, and special service routes, approximately 700 will participate in this initial phase of consultations. "Without drivers, there can be no transportation," he concluded. “By improving their visual health, we are directly contributing to better service quality and greater safety for users,” he emphasized, adding that drivers requiring specific care or corrective lenses will receive tailored support. Teams operating in inland regions will also be gradually integrated into the program.
For his part, Abdel Kader Khol, Director of Development and Sales at NSIA Assurances, emphasized that the insurer's role, in addition to traditional risk management, lies fundamentally in prevention. "We are well aware that eyesight is essential for road safety. Hence this initiative to organize free consultation days to enable drivers to carry out their public service mission safely and with optimal well-being," he explained. Mr. Khol also commended the professionalism of Dakar Dem Dikk drivers, whose low accident rate reflects their consistent rigor in performing their duties. He concluded by assuring that the partnership will actively continue in the future to extend medical coverage to all employees who cannot be enrolled during this initial phase. Through this civic action, Dakar Dem Dikk and NSIA Assurances reaffirm their joint commitment to the prevention of occupational risks and the modernization of public transport in Senegal.
