Faux policiers, séquestration et tirs nourris : Un couple raconte sa nuit de terreur face à des braqueurs à Diamniadio
A particularly violent armed attack occurred in Diamniadio, on the road to Mbour, in the early hours of Friday morning, around 3:00 AM. The home of the Sow family, where Abass Sow, manager of a Wave outlet, resides, was targeted by assailants who arrived in a pickup truck.
According to testimonies gathered on site, about ten individuals, armed with machetes and firearms, burst into the house before breaking down the door of the room where Abass Sow and his wife were sleeping.
He was tortured in front of his wife and used as a hostage.
Disguising themselves as police officers, the assailants overpowered the manager, tied him up, and brutally beat him in front of his helpless wife and relatives. They then forced him to reveal the location of the money, striking him until he lost consciousness.
The perpetrators then forcibly took Abass Sow and his wife to their Wave money transfer point to retrieve the funds. However, the manager managed to escape en route. His wife, on the other hand, was forced to continue the journey with the kidnappers to the trading post.
According to family members, Abass Sow was seriously injured during the attack. His wife also claims to have been sexually assaulted by one of the attackers.
More than two million dollars lost after a shooting
Invited on the Goomu Xol program, the couple recounted their terrifying night, while also criticizing the slow response of the police. According to their account, the perpetrators finally fled after a fierce exchange of gunfire with law enforcement.
The assailants left with a bag containing over two million CFA francs and the mobile phone of Abass Sow's wife. An investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this violent attack.
