« La main droite de Dieu » : impossible d'épeler GOD sans OG, la folie des Finales NBA

With the New York Knicks just one win away from a historic championship that would come for the first time in over half a century, one question is now on everyone's mind, from pundits to fans of the franchise: if the Knicks win, who will be named Finals MVP? While the undisputed leader Jalen Brunson seemed destined for this honor, the incredible rise of OG Anunoby and his legendary putback in Game 4 have completely changed the game. Born in London to Nigerian parents, the British player—whose full name is Ogugua—is the object of a veritable cult following in New York, to the point that his teammate Karl-Anthony Towns didn't hesitate to call him divine.

Asked at a press conference in San Antonio by Seneweb's special correspondent what allowed him to go from being an elite role player to such a high level of excellence during these playoffs, OG Anunoby remained true to his legendary humility. The Knicks forward explained that this leap in quality is based on a great deal of preparation off the court, particularly through the meticulous study of video sessions, but also on hard work in the gym to develop his game throughout the year. He also emphasized the importance of opportunity, reminding everyone that you have to seize your chance when it presents itself by being ready thanks to the daily effort you put in.

Anunoby transformed this opportunity into an unforgettable moment that New York City will never forget. After this game-winning basket, which will forever be etched in the collective memory, the Knicks forward said he found it really cool, adding that he understood how much this play meant to the fans and that he was very grateful to be a part of it. The public outpouring of support was such that the borough of Manhattan officially declared June 11, 2026, "Ogugua Anunoby Recognition Day." Faced with this immense political and popular honor, the player simply described the event as incredible, special, and truly exciting.

This discretion contrasts sharply with the overflowing enthusiasm of his teammates, starting with Karl-Anthony Towns, who was completely won over by the impact of his frontcourt partner. Referring to Anunoby's game-saving play in the final game, the Knicks center offered a striking phrase, declaring it "the right hand of God," before adding mischievously that it's "impossible to spell GOD without using the letters O and G."

Even Josh Hart, after missing a crucial shot late in the game, made a point of paying a heartfelt tribute to OG for, in his words, saving him a lifetime of regrets. Between Brunson's metronomic consistency and Ogugua's heroism, propelled by that strong and divine touch, the Finals MVP trophy promises to be a fiercely contested battle. But for the people of New York, the worthy representative of Nigerian and British roots has already definitively entered into eternity.
