Drame à Bargny : un chauffeur surprend son frère en plein sommeil, le tue à coups de briques et tombe dans un mausolée
The tranquility of the Wakhander neighborhood in the municipality of Bargny was brutally shattered this weekend. A violent fraternal quarrel ended with the death of 25-year-old D. Lô. His brother, 26-year-old B. Lô, is accused of striking him fatally on the head with a brick while he slept.
Friday, September 25, 2026: The initial altercation and resentment
The incident began on Friday, September 25, 2026, around 8:00 PM, at the family home. An altercation broke out between the two brothers. According to Seneweb sources, the accused, B. Lô, explained: “My brother was trying to prevent me from leaving the house. During this altercation, he struck me several times, notably with a broom and with his fist, near the bridge of my nose, causing bleeding.”
Instead of being taken to a medical facility, B. Lô says his parents took him to a traditional healer in Rufisque to calm him down. The accused claims he was deeply affected by this experience: "I considered it a humiliation and from then on, I intended to take revenge on my brother."
Saturday, September 26, 2026: The assault, the treatment, and the death
The following day, Saturday, September 26, 2026, around 7:00 a.m., B. Lô committed the act in the room he shared with the victim on the first floor. During his interrogation, he described his actions: "I grabbed a brick that was near the room before striking my brother D. Lô twice on the head."
After the attack, B. Lô fled. D. Lô, injured, was taken to the Diamniadio Children's Hospital, then transferred to the Youssou Mbargane Diop Hospital in Rufisque due to the lack of a CT scanner. Although his condition was initially considered stable, D. Lô was pronounced dead around 4:00 PM.
At 8 p.m., the brother of the victim and the accused, the transporter Ba. Lô, presented himself at the Bargny police station, under the command of Captain Babacar Ly, with a request form for an autopsy to report the tragedy.
The findings at the scene and the revelations of the declarant Ba. Lô
At the scene of the tragedy, police discovered a torn mattress soaked in blood, bloodstains on the wall, and fragments of stone.
When questioned by investigators, the declarant Ba. Lô provided details about his brother B. Lô's background, indicating that he had suffered from epileptic seizures since adolescence and that a deterioration in his behavior had been observed in 2025: "His behavior had begun to change, notably with the appearance of mental disorders and incoherent speech. He was seen on December 15, 2025 at the Dalal Xel Mental Health Center in Thiès, but he refused to take his medication regularly, claiming that he was of sound mind."
The declarant, Ba. Lô, also explained that B. Lô had traveled erratically to Koumpentoum and then to Guinea-Bissau before being brought back to Bargny two weeks earlier. Faced with his increasing aggression, particularly towards the maid who eventually resigned, the family was considering having him committed to the Thiaroye Psychiatric Hospital.
Sunday, September 27, 2026: The arrest of the suspect B. Lô in Yoff
After a day of searching, B. Lô was located and arrested on Sunday, September 27, 2026, inside the mausoleum of Seydina Limamou Laye in Yoff-Diamalaye, while he was reciting his rosary.
When questioned about his presence at the location, the accused, B. Lô, stated: “After the incident with my brother, I initially went to the Bargny police station to inform the authorities. However, I abandoned this plan to go to the mausoleum of my religious leader to offer prayers. Whenever I encounter difficulties in my life, I go to this place to meditate.”
Regarding his brother's death, B. Lô claims he was completely unaware of it at the time of his arrest: "After leaving the scene, I received no information concerning my brother's condition and I was unaware that he had succumbed to his injuries. I saw no blood at all as a result of the blows he received."
Regarding his mental health, B. Lô offers a different perspective than his brother Ba. Lô: “I suffered from epileptic seizures in 2007, but my health subsequently improved. I confirm that I was taken to the Dalal Xel center in Thiès in 2025, but I refused to take the prescribed medication because I believe I do not suffer from any condition requiring treatment.”
B. Lô was taken into custody for assault and battery resulting in death without intent to kill, pending the results of the autopsy. Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office, has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
